The short version

This policy covers 70mm IMAX Tracker at 70mmtracker.com, brought to you by Frontrow. We keep your email address and the watch you set, and we use them to send you the seat alerts you asked for. We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we use no advertising trackers. We do measure how the site is used, with PostHog, so we can see how people find us and which pages help them set a watch. You can have everything deleted by writing to us.

What we collect

Your email address, which is how you sign in and where alerts go.

The watch you set: the film, the theaters you picked, how many seats, whether they must be together, the least notice you want before showtime, whether late-night shows count, and where in the room you like to sit.

A record of the alerts we have sent you, so we do not send the same one twice, and when your account was created.

If you join the Frontrow app waitlist at 70mmtracker.com/frontrow, or tick the app waitlist box when you save a watch: your email address, when you joined, and how you first reached the site (the referring site or campaign tag and the page you landed on). No account is made.

Sign-in records kept by our sign-in provider for security, such as the time of a sign-in and the network address it came from. Like every website, our host also sees your network address and basic request details when you load a page.

We do not ask for your name, your phone number or your location. If you buy Pro, Stripe takes your payment details on its own page; we never see or store your card. We keep your Stripe customer id, your plan, and when it renews.

To put the theaters nearest you first, the home page asks our host, Cloudflare, for its estimate of the city your connection comes from, rounded to about 10 kilometres. It is used in your browser for that page and is never stored.

When you set your first watch we also note the site that sent you, such as a search engine, and any campaign tag in the link you followed, so we can learn how people find us. It is stored with your watch, never shared, and no tracker or cookie is used for it. When you save a watch or join the waitlist we also note the kind of device you used (phone, tablet or computer), its system and its browser, read from the request your browser sends, never anything that identifies the device itself.

The ticket links in our alert emails pass through 70mmtracker.com on the way to the theater, so we can count which alerts lead to a ticket page; we note the click, never what you buy.

How we use it

To send your sign-in code, to check the showings you are watching, and to email you when seats that match your watch open up. To keep the service running and secure, which includes stopping bots and abuse. To tell you about changes that affect you, such as changes to these policies or a paid plan starting. Nothing else.

Signing in here creates a Frontrow account, the same account the Frontrow iPhone app uses, so your watch is waiting for you if you install the app. Anything you log in the app is stored in that same account.

Why we are allowed to

We use your information because you asked us to: setting a watch and confirming your email is a request for the alerts, and we need your address and your watch to send them. We use sign-in and request records because we have a legitimate need to keep the service secure.

If you are in Canada, we rely on your consent under PIPEDA, which you give when you set a watch and confirm your email. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing, by pausing or deleting a watch at /account, or by asking us to delete your account, and we will stop sending alerts.

In your browser

While you fill the form in, your answers and your email address are kept in this browser's local storage, so a reload does not lose them. They are removed once you confirm your code. Signing in to /account sets a session cookie so the page can show your watches; it carries no address, key or watch data of its own, and signing out or closing it ends the session. To change or stop a watch later, sign in at /account.

The site sets two of its own cookies: that /account session cookie, once you sign in there, and PostHog's, which holds a random visitor number and the current visit's number for up to a year so a return visit counts as the same visitor. PostHog keeps a little more about the visit in local storage. Neither is used for advertising. Our host, Cloudflare, may set a security cookie to tell people from bots, and the sign-up form or /account may show a Cloudflare Turnstile check for the same reason. You can clear anything stored on this device by clearing site data in your browser.

Email

We send the six-digit sign-in code, the alerts you asked for, and service notices, such as a change to these policies or a paid plan starting. "Put me on the Frontrow app waitlist" on the watch form starts ticked, unless you pick a theater in Canada, where you tick it yourself; if you leave it ticked, or turn the Frontrow app waitlist on at your account page, we also send your app invite and occasional emails about Frontrow; every such email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unticking it or unsubscribing never affects your seat alerts.

Every alert carries a one-click unsubscribe, which we honour within two days, and a stop link for that watch. You can also pause or delete a watch at /account, or ask us to delete your account.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. A few companies help us run the service and handle data only to do that job for us:

  • Our database host stores your account and your watch, and runs the sign-in.
  • Our email provider delivers our email, including the sign-in code and the alerts.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site, sees network addresses and request logs, and runs the Turnstile bot check.
  • Stripe handles payment for Pro: it takes your card details on its own page, and tells us your plan and its renewal date. We never see or store your card.
  • PostHog measures how the site is used, through our own address (70mmtracker.com/relay): the pages you visit, the site that sent you, your kind of device and browser, the steps you take on the forms, and, once you confirm your email, your account number and the film you set a watch for. It never receives your email address.
  • TMDB serves the film images on the site, so your browser asks image.tmdb.org for them and TMDB sees your network address.

We give information to the police or a court only when the law requires it. If Frontrow is ever sold or merged, your information would pass to the new owner under this policy, and we would tell you first.

How long we keep it

You can pause, edit or delete your watches at 70mmtracker.com/account, or stop one with the link in any of its alerts. A watch's record and the email tied to it are deleted automatically 30 days after that watch is stopped, deleted, or its film's run ends, and 30 days after your last sign-in. If you are on the Frontrow app waitlist, we keep your address for it until you unsubscribe. A waitlist address is kept to send your invite; write to [email protected] to be taken off the list. To have it removed sooner, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with. You can also delete your account inside the Frontrow app. Backups kept by our database host are overwritten on their normal schedule, after which the data is gone from them too.

Security

Everything travels encrypted between your browser and our services. Access to the database is limited to the people who run the service. The database enforces row-level security, so each account can read only its own rows. No system is perfectly secure, but if something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with. We answer within 30 days and do not charge for it.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information, as those words are defined in California law, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. You have the right to know, correct and delete, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

Canadian residents: you have the right under PIPEDA to access the personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, write to us and we will delete the account.

Where it is stored

Your information is stored in the United States. If you are outside the United States, including in Canada, it is moved to and handled there, where the law may give different protection than at home.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters, for example a new kind of data or a new use for it, we email account holders before it takes effect.
