Why 70mm IMAX?
70mm film runs through the projector sideways, in the tallest aspect ratio in wide release. Everything else crops into a shorter frame.
The Prestige was shot on 35mm in the wide 2.39:1 frame, so it plays at that shape on any screen. Its 70mm prints are new blow-ups made for this release; the gain is the size and clarity of the picture, not its height.
